How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? — Psalm 13:2 KJV
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? — Psalm 13:2 NIV
Today's Verse Reflection
This encourages persistence in prayer and reliance on God’s timing. While the psalmist starts with a question, “How long,” the Psalm progresses towards a reaffirmation of trust in God’s unfailing love and salvation. It’s a journey from despair to hope, a reminder that even in our darkest hours, we are called to remember God’s past faithfulness and trust in His future deliverance.
Let us therefore maintain our faith amidst trials, to continually seek God’s face and to trust in His sovereign plan. It’s a call to not only bring our sorrows before God but also to anticipate His deliverance with hope and praise.
