Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work. — Titus 3:1 KJV
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good. — Titus 3:1 NIV
Reflection
The call to be “ready for every good work” is a powerful reminder of the proactive nature of Christian living. It’s not enough to simply avoid doing wrong; we are called to actively seek out and engage in opportunities to do good. This could mean serving those in need, offering words of encouragement, advocating for justice, or simply being a kind and compassionate presence in our daily interactions.
In essence, this passage prompts a reflection on how well our lives align with these principles. It challenges us to consider how our actions, both in submission to authority and in the pursuit of good works, reflect our faith in Christ. It’s a call to live intentionally with a clear focus on embodying the values of the Gospel in every aspect of our lives.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray for a heart eager to engage in good works. Stir within me a readiness and a zeal for service that reflects Your love and compassion. Help me to see the opportunities You place before me daily to extend Your grace to others, whether through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or advocacy for justice and mercy.
I pray for the strength to live out these principles not by my power, but through the grace and guidance of Your Holy Spirit. In all things, let Your will be done, and let my life glorify You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
