Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? — John 3:4 KJV
How can someone be born when they are old? Nicodemus asked. Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born! — John 3:4 NIV
This passage underscores the journey of faith as one of continual rebirth and renewal. It invites a reflective posture, encouraging us to ponder our own spiritual awakening. Have we experienced this rebirth that Jesus speaks of? How do we open our hearts to the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
We must therefore move beyond our limited understanding and to embrace the mystery of God’s work in us. It’s a call to spiritual renewal, to let go of our preconceived notions and to enter into a deeper relationship with God through faith. The journey of faith is not about attaining knowledge or certainty, but about experiencing the love of God which renews and rebirths us into the fullness of life in Christ.
My Prayer
Guide me in Your truth, O Lord, and fill me with Your light. May I walk in the fullness of life that You have promised to all who believe and are born again in Your Spirit. Teach me to seek Your kingdom with a humble heart, ever open to the wonder and awe of Your grace.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who reveals to us the path of new birth and life everlasting, I pray, Amen.
