The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. — Psalm 19:7 KJV
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. — Psalm 19:7 NIV
Thought and Reflection
David didn’t have the entire Bible to look up, but David had the complete record of the laws and precepts God gave to Israel. The law God gave to Israel in written form was in perfect form. This is why it has the power to revitalize the soul. It brings hope to those who hear it and brings back hope when your spirit has become sunk.
David also declares his belief that “the testimony of the LORD is sure.” This is a reference in part to the Ten Commandments. They provide insight to those who are humble and who are obedient to them. They are the Ten Commandments imparted to Israel the ability to discern what is right and what isn’t. But, Israel did not always opt to follow the Ten Commandments.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the Bible to lead and guide us how to live wisely in this world. Teach me to look into Your words everyday and mediate on it that I might be careful in everything that I do. In Jesus name that I pray. Amen.
