The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. — Psalm 12:6 KJV
And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times. — Psalm 12:6 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
God’s Word is faultless and without error. God is holy and righteous. God’s promises are unwavering and certain, and His truth stands the test of time. Each of His own has been put in the rock’s cleft, and He has covered us with His nail-pierced hands. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord, because He has exalted His Word above His sacred name.
But while it is still “today,” let us cling to the many priceless promises of God, which are confirmed in Christ, and put our faith in Him to carry them out on our behalf. His Word of truth can be relied upon without reservation because He is an holy, righteous, good, and pure, and His mercy remains forever.
Just as the proliferation of evil in our day will one day be stopped in our lives, it will be to His honor and glory and for our eternal good. His delaying of the punishment of the wicked in the time of David resulted in joy and rejoicing. Let’s cling to the fortunate hope that has been placed before us, for the words of the LORD are pure words, purified seven times like silver in an earthen furnace.
My Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, it appears that the wicked are prowling around like a roaring lion, seeking to destroy and slander everything good and holy. Thank You that I am Your child, and I will not be afraid of what man can do to me because I know I am safe in the cleft of My Jesus, and nothing can take me from His hands, in whose Name I pray. Amen
