Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. — Matthew 7:12 KJV
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. — Matthew 7:12 NIV
Thought and Reflection
We sometimes make things, especially religious ones, too complicated or complex. The Bible is my favorite book because it’s so practical and clear when God addresses our behavior. Do you want to learn how to treat others? Do for them what you would do for someone else. Don’t do it if it doesn’t bless, encourage or support you.
Don’t give it to someone if it would cause you pain, discomfort, depression, shame, embarrassment, or discouragement. You should treat others with the same respect, dignity, kindness, love and tenderness that you would want to be treated. It’s simple to understand, but revolutionary to do.
My Prayer
Almighty Father, I am grateful for simplifying some things. Your love fills my heart as I strive to live the “Golden Rule”, in all my relationships. I ask for Your forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
