On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.” — John 7:37 NIV
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. — John 7:37 KJV
Reflection
We can see here that Jesus’ invitation is simple but profound. He offers Himself as the source of living water that can quench this spiritual thirst. In other passages, He describes this water as leading to eternal life (John 4:14). Unlike the temporary solutions the world offers, what Jesus provides satisfies the deepest yearnings of the human heart and soul.
Remember that our deepest needs can only be met in a relationship with Jesus. Our souls are restless and thirsty until they find rest and satisfaction in Him. The world offers many “drinks”, but only Jesus provides the living water that truly satisfies.
