Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. — John 12:24 NIV

Reflection on Verse for Today

This verse can be seen as a metaphor for the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Just as a kernel of wheat must fall to the ground and die in order to produce new life, we too must let go of old ways of being and thinking in order to make room for new growth and transformation.

This can be a difficult and painful process, as it often involves letting go of things that are familiar and comfortable to us. But just as the kernel of wheat must die in order to produce many seeds, we too must be willing to let go of old patterns and habits that are no longer serving us, in order to make room for new growth and transformation.

In the reflection, we can contemplate on how this metaphor applies to our own lives. Are there areas where we are holding onto old ways of being or thinking that are preventing us from experiencing new growth and transformation? What would it look like to let go of these old patterns, and to embrace new ways of living and being?

As we reflect on these questions, we can pray to God for the courage and wisdom to let go of what no longer serves us, and to embrace the new beginnings and opportunities that life presents to us. We can trust that just as the kernel of wheat produces many seeds, we too can experience new growth and transformation when we are willing to let go of the old and embrace the new.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, as I reflect on your words today, thank you for reminding me about the cycle of life, death, and rebirth that is present in all things. Just as a kernel of wheat must fall to the ground and die in order to produce new life, I know that I too must be willing to let go of old patterns and habits that are no longer serving me, in order to make room for new growth and transformation.

But Lord, I know that this can be a difficult and painful process. It requires me to let go of things that are familiar and comfortable, and to embrace the unknown and uncertain. It requires me to trust in You and in Your plan for my life, even when I cannot see the way forward.

So I pray for the courage and wisdom to let go of what no longer serves me, and to embrace the new beginnings and opportunities that You present to me. Help me to trust in Your love and guidance, and to know that You are always with me, even in the midst of change and uncertainty.

May I approach each new day with a spirit of curiosity and openness, eager to learn and grow. May I be receptive to Your guidance and direction, and may I be willing to follow wherever You lead me.

Thank You for the gift of new beginnings, and for the opportunity to experience new growth and transformation in my life. May I honor this gift by being open to change and transformation, and by trusting in You every step of the way.

In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.
