Reflection on Verse for Today

How many times do we question ourselves, doubting if we are truly capable or prepared enough for the tasks God has set before us? Today’s bible verse offers reassurance in the midst of these uncertainties.

The words in this bible verse are a direct conversation between God and Jeremiah, but they still speak to us today, thousands of years later. God was commissioning Jeremiah for prophetic ministry, a task that Jeremiah felt ill-prepared for because of his youth. Yet, God, in His infinite wisdom, made it clear that it wasn’t Jeremiah’s experience, age, or capability that mattered—it was God’s command and His divine enablement.

This verse calls us to reflect on our own lives. How often do we back away from tasks or opportunities because we think we’re too young, inexperienced, unqualified, or simply not ready? While it’s important to evaluate our abilities honestly, it’s equally crucial to remember that God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called.

God, in His boundless love, sees potential in us that we often fail to see in ourselves. His plan is not confined by our human limitations, but rather unfolds through them. When He calls us to a task, He doesn’t expect us to succeed by our strength alone. Instead, He promises to be with us, guiding our words, actions, and thoughts, just as He promised to Jeremiah.

Now we learn that with God’s provision in our lives — no matter what He calls us to, we can trust that He will equip us with all we need to carry out His will. The next time we feel too young, too inexperienced, or too unprepared, let’s remember this bible verse from this day and take courage in God’s promise. Let’s silence the voice of doubt with the voice of God’s truth: we are capable and ready because He is with us.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am so grateful for the gift of life and the opportunities you continually present to me. Today, I am particularly moved by the words of Jeremiah 1:7, a verse that you have placed on my heart to reflect upon.

Lord, just as you told Jeremiah not to say ‘I am too young’, I pray for the same boldness and trust in You when faced with challenges that appear beyond my abilities. Help me to remember that my strength does not come from my experience, age, or capabilities, but from You. When I am tempted to shy away due to fear or insecurity, remind me of Your promise to Jeremiah—that You will be with me and guide me.

Father, You see my potential when I cannot, You see opportunities where I see obstacles. I pray that I may have the faith to walk into those opportunities with confidence, knowing that You are beside me. Help me to trust Your process, and to understand that You equip those You call, rather than calling those who are already equipped.

I pray to grant me a heart that is open to Your guidance, and a spirit that is eager to fulfill Your calling, regardless of the circumstances. Remove any doubt from my mind, replace it with unwavering faith in Your promise to me, and give me the courage to speak and act according to Your will.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
