Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God. — Hebrews 6:1 KJV
Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God. — Hebrews 6:1 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
In the natural world, we celebrate the birth of a newborn baby, but we quickly grow worried if that baby did not start to develop and progress through infancy and childhood, into adolescence, and into mature adulthood. The same is true in the Christian life. A believer’s new existence in Christ should lead to spiritual development.
We receive everything we require for life and virtue at salvation, according to what the Bible says. The benefits Christ has given us will guarantee that we grow from childhood to spiritual maturity. We must take possession of everything that is ours in Him by remaining in Him, yielding to the direction of the Holy Spirit, and placing our faith in God’s Word. God has given us His sufficient grace so that we may live as Christ lived—in spirit and in truth.
How crucial it is that we read, take notes, study, internalize, and apply everything that is ours in Christ. It is essential that we do not squander our spiritual youth or stop hearing the profound biblical teachings that belong to us through Christ. How important it is for us to grow in our faith and consume the substance of God’s Word so that we can advance in our understanding, share the gospel with others, and be ready to share our optimism to anyone who seeks.
My Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you grant me the grace to grow in my faith and to walk in the light as Jesus did. Help me to move past my superficial exploration of Christianity’s foundational principles, and I hope that I may develop a deeper understanding of everything You would teach me.
Teach me in expanding my understanding of the Lord Jesus. Keep me on the path of the spirit and the truth, and help me to develop patience and perseverance so that I might become flawless, lacking nothing. To Your better praise and glory, please help me to abide in Christ and He in me. I ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.
