For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end. — Hebrews 3:14 KJV
We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. — Hebrews 3:14 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
This verse highlights the importance of perseverance in the Christian faith.
The author of Hebrews is addressing a community of believers who were facing persecution and hardship, and he reminds them that their faith in Christ is what unites them and gives them hope. He encourages them to hold on to their original confidence in Christ and not to waver in their commitment, even in the face of difficulties.
There may be some who do not hold their original confidence firm to the end, and this is a warning to Christians not to become complacent or to fall away from their faith. It reminds us that faith is not a one-time event, but a lifelong journey of trusting and following Jesus.
Remember that perseverance in faith is essential, and we must hold on to our original confidence in Christ to share in His salvation. It encourages us to remain faithful in the face of trials and challenges and to trust in Christ for our strength and hope.
My Prayer
Dear God, thank you for the reminder that we need to hold firm to our original confidence in Christ until the end. I confess that sometimes I am tempted to waver in my faith when I face difficult situations or when I am unsure of what the future holds.
Please help me to remember that my faith in You is what unites me with other believers and gives me hope. Strengthen me to persevere in my faith and to trust in You even when I don’t understand what is happening around me.
I pray that You will help me to grow in my relationship with You and to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of my faith. Please give me the courage to stand firm in my beliefs and to share the good news of Christ with others.
Thank You for Your love and grace that sustains me each day. I pray all of these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
