Reflection on Verse for Today

We were without Christ, without a heavenly citizenship, without a covenant relationship, without God’s promises, without access to the throne of grace, and without hope in the world prior to being born again into the family of God. We belonged to a race of godless sinners who were doomed to spend eternity apart from their Creator. We were spiritually dead and destined for an eternity apart from God before we were received into the Beloved by grace through faith in His atoning death and Resurrection.

But now, thanks to the blood of Christ, all limitations on approaching our Creator and all obstacles to our Father are gone. We have been brought back to life after being dead. We have been found after being lost. We have been liberated from our slavery to sin and impending doom. Now that we have been healed, we were once sick.

We have been transformed from sinners to saints. We have been set free who were condemned. We were brought into the kingdom of light from the darkness. The countless wonderful promises of God, all of which are “yes” and “amen” in Christ, have been poured out on us, who had no prior promises.

“Now in Christ Jesus—by the blood of Christ, we who were formerly distant have been made near.” Let us live our lives according to the Lord, for He alone is deserving of our adoration and gratitude.

My Prayer

Thank You, Almighty Father, that Christ Jesus, my Lord, died for me while I was still alive in my sins and transgressions. I’m grateful that His death on the cross atoned for my sins and that, by grace through faith in Him, I was reconciled to God, brought back into a covenant relationship with Him, had my sins forgiven, and was given the gift of eternal life. I just offer my praise and worship to You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
