Reflection on Verse for Today

On our behalf, Christ completed the unattainable requirements of the Law, making God pleased. The principalities and powers that had the human race captive in their severe grasp were destroyed by him. Because we are in Christ, God is content with us just as He was with Christ’s atoning sacrifice for sin. Because we are united to Christ by faith, we are also united to His victory over sin and death. Christ overcame the principalities and powers that kept us prisoner. We are no longer constrained by dietary restrictions, religious feasts, or observing the Sabbath because we are in Christ and have been raised up into newness of life in Him.

We were under God’s condemnation as guilty members of the old creation, but by faith in Christ’s atoning act, we have been declared saints and are now a part of the new creation, which is no longer bound by the demands of the Law. Therefore, “let no man judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holiday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days.” There is no longer any condemnation for those of us who are in Christ Jesus.

My Prayer

Thank You, Heavenly Father, that Christ died for me and paid the whole penalty due to a guilty sinner. I am grateful that because of Him, I am no longer subject to the Law’s curse or obligated to do any religious rituals or rules but am now a part of a brand-new creation that is identified with Christ and His righteousness.

I am grateful to be a part of the new creation in Christ rather than the old, doomed creation. Help me to love and act in a way that is consistent with how Christ loved and lived, and to only pursue goals that are acceptable in Your eyes. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
