Reflection on Today's Verse
It’s so easy to “feel wise” in this world—having the last word, looking put-together, staying unbothered, acting like you’ve got it all figured out. But God calls you to a different kind of wisdom: the kind that starts with humility.
When the verse says, “Let no man deceive himself,” it’s a loving warning. Because self-deception is sneaky. You can be doing “good” outwardly while quietly leaning on pride inwardly—trusting your own insight more than God’s Word, your own strength more than His grace.
And when it says, “let him become a fool,” it doesn’t mean be careless or ignorant. It means be willing to look “small” in the world’s eyes if it means you stay honest before God. Real wisdom is choosing truth over image, surrender over control, and dependence on Christ over confidence in self.
Personal Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come unto Thee in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Keep me from deceiving myself. Deliver me from pride, from trusting my own understanding, and from seeking the praise of men. Teach me to humble myself before Thee, and to receive Thy wisdom with a meek and teachable spirit.
Lord, help me to be willing to be nothing in this world’s eyes, if it means I may be wise in Thy sight. Let Thy Word correct me, guide me, and settle my heart. I thank Thee that my standing is not in my performance, but in Christ alone.
