And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. — 2 Corinthians 1:6 KJV
If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. — 2 Corinthians 1:6 NIV
Today's Verse Reflection
Suffering is not a meaningless or purely negative experience but rather an opportunity for spiritual growth, developing patience and deepening faith. Through endurance, we are not just passively waiting but actively participating in God’s work in our lives and the lives of others.
We must view our hardships through the lens of communal benefit and spiritual development which reassures us that our distress can lead to comfort and salvation and not just for ourselves but for the broader Christian community.
