That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever. — Joshua 4:24 KJV
He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.” — Joshua 4:24 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
The Israelites were miraculously led across the Jordan River in the midst of the flood season by the Lord in order for him to keep his promises to his people and because of the loving grace that he possesses. He was also making a significant statement to his people regarding himself at the same time. It was always important to him that Israel “revere” him. In addition to this, he desired for Israel’s adversaries to be filled with terror. They did because of the faith of God’s people, God was able to secure a significant victory for himself and for his people.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for being who you are. I hope that I can always show you the reverence and respect that is rightfully due to you. I ask your forgiveness for the times when I did not treat you with the reverence and respect that you so rightfully deserve. Please forgive me for the times when I didn’t defend the sanctity of your name when others were profaning it. You are deserving of my life, my love, and everything that I have to give. I want to sing your praises right now and for all eternity. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
