Reflection on Verse for Today

What a significant impact a mother’s presence has on the mental, emotional, and spiritual growth of her offspring! After spending his early childhood years with his mother, Moses was later educated in every facet of Egyptian culture in preparation for the work he would do for the rest of his life. During these early childhood years, Moses was undoubtedly able to learn about his Jewish ancestry as well as the purpose and promises of God. Not only did Moses develop physically before he was returned to the princess, but he also grew in his understanding of the Lord God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob and Israel. According to the observation of one theologian, “Consequently, the wisdom of Egypt was utilized by the wisdom of God for the purpose of establishing the kingdom of God.” How incredibly amazing it is to observe the working out of God’s plans and purposes in ways that go completely against our expectations.

Whenever we are confronted with a challenge that seems insurmountable or a circumstance that breaks our hearts, it is critical for us to keep in mind that God is all-powerful and that He sees the future with far greater clarity than we do. May the reminder that God is our Almighty Lord who holds the universe in the palm of His hands, that He is in control of every situation, and that we can trust Him to work everything out for our good be an encouragement to us today. May it also help us to remember that we can put our faith in Him to make everything work out for our benefit. We pray that from this day on, we will have the willingness and readiness to put our trust in Him in everything, knowing that He will take care of us and provide for us in accordance with His will.

My Prayer

I want to express my gratitude to the loving Heavenly Father for the gift of Your Word, for the truths that are contained within its pages, and for the many valuable teachings that can be gleaned from both the Old and New Testaments. I am grateful that You have planned out each and every day of my life and that You are already aware of how everything will turn out.

Please help me to trust You in all aspect of my life, especially in those situations where it seems as though I have no control over the situation. Thank you for the opportunities to grow in faith that are shown to me by the example of Moses’ parents, who put their faith in You while he was still a baby and allowed You to care for him. What a source of solace it is to understand that You, my all-powerful God, are the one who holds the entire universe in the palm of Your hand. I am grateful for Your unfailing kindness and mercy toward me. In Jesus name. Amen.
