The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. — Psalm 34:16 KJV
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. — Psalm 34:16 NIV
Reflection
Because God abhors violence, we are obligated to abstain from praising violent people and refrain from leading violent lifestyles ourselves. God despises the wicked and their deeds. Not only does God fight against them while they are living, but he also works to lessen the impact of their actions after they have passed away. He helps in exposing them for who and what they truly are. Their legacy of hatred and cruelty is discarded, shunned, scandalized, and forgotten; in contrast, they are not seen as heroes at all.
My Prayer
In this time of dread and wickedness, O Lord, please render ineffective the threats of the wicked and make their remembrance a putrid stench in the nostrils of those whom they are attempting to fool and co-opt to carry out their evil will. In this time of horror and wickedness, we beseech you. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
