Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. — 3 John 1:11 KJV
Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. — 3 John 1:11 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
Whom do we imitate in life? In our daily lives, we encounter myriad influences — from friends, media, popular culture, and even our own internal inclinations. Each influence, whether subtle or overt, pushes us in a direction. The question then becomes: which direction are we allowing ourselves to be led?
Our bible verse today draws a clear distinction between the paths of good and evil. It is a warning for us not to mimic the ways of wickedness but to model the behavior after that which is good. So by doing what is good, we demonstrate our genuine connection and relationship with God but a life led by malevolent intentions and actions reflects a lack of understanding and presence of God.
The choices we make are not simply neutral decisions devoid of significance. What we do shows what’s in our hearts and how well we understand who God is. When we try hard to be loving, kind, and do the right thing, we show how God is changing us. Our good actions can be like a bright light for others in a world that can sometimes be difficult and confusing.
Also, this Bible verse is very important today. On social media, we see many different ways people live, think, and what they value. It’s a must now more than ever, to evaluate and be selective about whom or what we follow.
To truly embody this verse, we must be proactive in seeking out good role models and inspirations. It’s not merely about avoiding the evil but actively pursuing and upholding the good. In doing so, we become vessels of God’s love and light, exemplifying His presence in our lives.
As we navigate the complexities of life, let’s question our influences, continually seek God’s guidance, and strive to be imitators of all that is good and holy. Through this, we not only honor our Creator but also lead others closer to His embrace.
