For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. — Romans 8:3-4 NIV
Today's Thought and Reflection
If the Spirit lives within us, we don’t require any law to guide us. The Spirit creates the kind of character God would like to see that is way beyond what a law would call for. Although the Law can help us understand God’s will, and also reveal to us what is wrong, the Law will not fix our sins and help us follow God’s plan of action. The Holy Spirit can transform, cleanse, empower, and motivate us to become what God requires for us to become in ways that no law could ever do.
Let’s praise God for His loving and powerful presence through His Spirit.
