And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. — Revelation 21:2-4 KJV
I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” — Revelation 21:2-4 NIV
Thought and Reflection
I do not know about you however, I’m waiting for that old-fashioned stuff to be gone. The ending of death, tears, sorrow, grief and mourning seems pretty appealing to me.
So why was it that early Christians would have said, “Maranatha. Come Lord Jesus!” They didn’t have time to sit around waiting.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me in my efforts to keep serving You faithfully. My aim is to be unwavering in my devotion and live in Your name until I can experience the day of glory that thousands people from Your family have desired throughout the years.
I would love to be able to witness You in all Your glory and share in Your presence, and join with saints of every age praising the glory of Your throne. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
