Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever. — Psalm 93:5 KJV
Your statutes, Lord, stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days. — Psalm 93:5 NIV
Reflection
There are so many of the things we strive to acquire that are only transitory. Their usefulness can be expected to last little more than a few months, and at best perhaps a few brief years. Even our own lives, as well as the lives of those we cherish, are relatively brief.
But the nature of God, his defining quality, and his demands for the holiness of his followers are unchanging over time. Therefore, as we build our lives, let’s build on a solid foundation: the will of God and a willingness to partake in his holiness. This will give our lives stability and direction.
My Prayer
Holy God, I give thanks that you have made me holy and that you have forgiven my wrongdoing because of your grace. To the extent that your grace and character are reflected in my life, please fill me with your Spirit and cause the fruit of the Spirit to bear in my life.
Give me a thirst for knowing your will and the desire to seek your truth, as well as the ability to comprehend it and put it into practice in my life. I want to construct the rest of my life with you as its core and as its ultimate objective. In the most holy name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
