The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. — Psalm 34:15 KJV
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry. — Psalm 34:15 NIV
Reflection
David tells us that God keeps an eye on those who are “righteous,” which here means people who really try to live their lives in a way that honors God. He hears our prayers and knows everything about us. He knows what we need in every situation and gives us what we need.
We can have faith when we pray because He hears us. This verse says that God pays attention to and hears those who love Him. The next verse, on the other hand, says that God judges and rejects those who don’t love Him.
God sees our lives and hears our prayers, so nothing is too hard for Him. What is hard for us to understand, though, is that God’s will doesn’t always mean a miraculous rescue or relief right away. His will says that what we “need” is not always what we want or what we expect.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for recognizing my needs, listening to my pleas, responding to my cries, and descending to save, comfort, and bless me in my time of need. In Jesus that I give You praise. Amen.
