Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. — Psalm 29:2 KJV
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. — Psalm 29:2 NIV
Reflection for Today's Verse
To give glory, or to attribute glory, is not something that comes naturally to us. Let’s admit it. We are extremely centered on ourselves. We are much more accustomed to petitioning God for things than we are to praising, thanking, and inviting others to worship with us in response to what he has done for us. Let us spend the rest of this week giving thanks to God, praising him, and glorifying his holy name through prayers of thanksgiving and praise. Try it! Pick one day out of this week to devote thanksgiving, adoration, reverence, and thanksgiving to God while spending one hour. (During this time, do not make any requests for anything; rather, focus on who God is, what God has done, and giving the LORD the honor that is rightfully his!)
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I give thanks to you, Lord, because despite the fact that you are amazing and magnificent beyond my ability to describe or comprehend them, you have loved me just as I am. I am grateful that you sent Jesus to help me understand who you are and see your glory. I want to thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to dwell inside of me. I give thanks to you for the grace that has kept me and others I care about alive. In the name of Jesus, I give you thanks, O holy Lord. Amen.
