Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? — Proverbs 6:28 KJV
Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? — Proverbs 6:28 NIV
Thought and Reflection
There’s no need to be concerned about burning coals, just take a walk. However, this reminder of burning coals is definitely good for me. It is easy to feel spiritually strong that we are seduced by the lure of a favorite temptation, and we are tempted to play with sinful temptations. However, God’s Holy Spirit makes us aware via his Wise Man that if we fling ourselves into sin, and open our bodies to temptation, we’re eventually likely to be burned.
My Prayer
Dear Father, I admit that I sometimes let myself be enticed by the things that aren’t healthy, holy, and right. Thank You for saving me so many times from my mistakes and that You empower me with courage and renewed faith in my efforts to give myself completely and fully to You. Teach me to stay away from what is sinful and dangerous. In Jesus the name I pray. Amen.
