My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother. — Proverbs 6:20 KJV
My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. — Proverbs 6:20 NIV
Reflection
The wisdom of those who have come before us and who want to share with us the collective wisdom that was handed down to them by their predecessors is so frequently disregarded in today’s society. Those who have come before us want to share with us the wisdom that was passed down to them by their predecessors. In the coming days and weeks, let’s pay close attention to those people who are more seasoned and have already demonstrated their reliability. At the same time, let’s be sure to impress upon our children and grandchildren the significance that God places on obedience, particularly the obedience that is owed by children to their parents.
My Prayer
Dear Father, forgive me for the times when I have not properly appreciated the words and advice of my parents. I am grateful to them for their love for me and their desire to direct me toward the path that leads to you. I ask that you bless them with your favor, and I ask that you bless me as I work toward being more submissive to your will. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
