He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. — Proverbs 17:9 KJV
Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends. — Proverbs 17:9 NIV
Thought and Reflection
“It’s somewhat innocuous gossip.” The Wise Teacher advises us that gossip is neither little or innocuous. Its ramifications are enormous and its harm terrible. All things being equal, it is greatly better to be a peacemaker and an offense mender.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I admit that I am frequently more a peace lover than a peacemaker. Give me the character not to rehash gossip and on second thought have the insight and strength to be an offense mender. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
