He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he. — Proverbs 16:20 KJV
Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. — Proverbs 16:20 NIV
Reflection
This verse tells us that we can only get God’s blessings if we follow His rules, and that the happiest people are the ones who put all their trust in God. When I think back on my life as a Christian, I always do things my way and rarely think about whether I’m following the Lord’s words or if the Lord is happy with it. I also rarely pray to God and rely on him when things go wrong. So, I never feel like God is leading me or blessing me. For example, the Lord tells us not to lie but to be honest. But I always lied and tricked people to get what I wanted. I even lied to God when I prayed, failing to do most of what I said. God tells us not to judge other people. But if I found out that one of my brothers or sisters had done something that went against my wishes or affected my interests, I would judge them harshly. All of this showed that I didn’t follow God’s rules and didn’t even respect him. I couldn’t help but wonder, “Do I believe in God?” How do I get God’s good things? What do I need to do?
In God’s words, I find the way to put things into practice. God says, “God is always in the hearts of those who really believe in him, and they always have a heart that loves and respects him. People who believe in God should be careful and wise in everything they do, and everything they do should be in line with God’s rules and be able to make God happy. They shouldn’t be stubborn and do whatever they want; that’s not proper for saints.”
My Prayer
Holy God, who is both wise and eternal, please let your presence into my heart and open my intellect to your understanding. I put my faith in you for the future. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
