Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. — Proverbs 11:14 KJV
For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers. — Proverbs 11:14 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
Christians often have to make judgments or choices that could have a big impact on their future lives and witness since we live by faith, not by sight. And this tiny saying serves as a crucial reminder to seek godly advice whenever we are unsure, confronting a struggle, thinking about a change, or need to make an adjustment to our circumstances in life.
God frequently employs seasoned Christians to give counsel, and we frequently find that we obtain godly knowledge for our daily decisions from the mouths of several witnesses.
Such direction is frequently appreciated, but it can also be perplexing—especially when it goes against our own will or personal desires. Thankfully, God has given us His written Word, which He frequently uses to direct our steps or validate the counsel of other believers whom the Lord places in our path to give us direction.
Additionally, He has bestowed upon us the gift of His indwelling Holy Spirit, who will direct us in the right path and lead us into all truth. Yet in order to avoid falling, we must be willing to LISTEN to His voice, whether it comes from within or without, and respond when He prompts us through His written Word: “Because where there is no guidance, the people fall, but where there are many counselors, there is triumph.”
My Prayer
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for placing wise Christian friends and family in my life to provide me with godly direction and good advice. I hope that You will validate the guidance I receive from Your Word and through Your Holy Spirit, and that I will be open to hearing what they have to say.
I pray that You will use me to help others with good counsel and to be ready and willing to follow Your leading and guiding in all area of my life. In Jesus’ name, I humbly pray for this.
