But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. — Matthew 19:14 KJV
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14 NIV
Thought and Reflection
It is a powerful reminder of Jesus’ love for children even in an age where they were not highly valued. It’s a reminder that God loves what the world sometimes abandons or abuses. The unloved, forgotten, abused, and neglected are all things we are called upon to love. Why? That is because that is how Israel was in Egypt, that is why Jesus was at Calvary, and that is why we are without grace.
How can we claim salvation but not share it with those who are in need? How can we claim to be a follower of Jesus but not love those who are forgotten?
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I desire to be a more loving and caring parent to my children and to the children who are forgotten. Please help me to not only be aroused at the abuse and neglect of children who are suffering in this world but also to be inspired to bless them. In the name Jesus, my great lover of all children, I pray. Amen.
