And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. — Matthew 10:38-39 KJV
Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. — Matthew 10:38-39 NIV
Reflection
Jesus needs us to truly look our hearts and give up those things that keep us away from completely following and serving Him. We understand what they are. He comes to us now with nail-scarred hands and reminds us that He gave up everything to redeem us. He wants us to surrender to the Cross the things that keep us down. We should do it today.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the areas of my life that I have kept stowed away from righteousness that your Spirit is working to develop in me. I admit those areas of transgression to You and ask that you purify me and free me from these strongholds that ties them to me and keeps me away from earnest service to Your Son. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
