He must increase, but I must decrease. — John 3:30 KJV
He must become greater; I must become less. — John 3:30 NIV
Thought and Reflection
When Jesus is given the rightful place in our lives we are able to be certain that we’re in the direction of God and fulfilling His purpose within our own lives. No matter where we are, what our position as part of our role in the Body of Christ and no matter how large or minor our work for our Lord is – when Jesus is the central figure in all aspect of our lives, we will be able to declare, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
If we are able to testify to this fact, we can be confident that we’re at the right place and are at the heart of His mission and plan for our lives.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the life and ministry of John the Baptist who spent his life as a witness and testimony to the truth of the gospel of Jesus.
Thank You John the Baptist example, for despite being great in the eyes of men and a minister of God, he was able to proclaim that Christ must increase while he must decrease.
Help me walk humbly before You all the days of my life be ready to testify that Jesus is the Savior of the world and that HE must increase in importance and influence, while I must decrease. I Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
