Reflection

The revelation that Martha was to look to Jesus every moment of her life, starting from that day forward, as her ever present help in times of trouble, caused her faith to grow significantly. Martha had previously believed that she was only supposed to trust God with a predetermined future that will one day be carried out.

Let us never forget that no matter how tiny our faith may be, God is at work in each of us each day to deepen our trust in Him. He does this so that we may mature in grace and learn to depend on Him, regardless of the circumstances that we may be forced to endure. Let us never forget this. His Word holds true even in this day and age, and it will continue to do so forever.

My Prayer

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for these earth-shattering words delivered to Lazarus’s bereaved sister. Thank You for Jesus’ use of these words to strengthen Martha’s confidence and dependency on Him. Help me to never forget that God is working in me every day to deepen my confidence in Him so that I may mature in grace and learn to rely on Him regardless of the difficulties I experience. Thank You for hiding my life with Christ in God. Expand my trust in Your Word of truth and my comprehension of Who You truly are (knowing You is eternal life), not only in the future but also today. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
