And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. — Joel 2:13 KJV
Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. — Joel 2:13 NIV
Thought and Reflection
The most incredible things about the Lord our God is that he’s extremely kind and loving. This is the case even when we’ve “blown it hugely.”
In reality, when we make a mistake, God wants to cleanse and forgive not to punish and condemn. His grace is quick to meet our heartbreak and change by cleansing, forgiveness, and redemption.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, If I commit a sin please help me to see my mistakes. Let my heart break over my sins when I’ve resisted You. I don’t want to get cold or indifferent to Your mercy.
I’d like to be able to appreciate the cost You paid for redemption, to forgive me, and to cleanse me by Your grace. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
