But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah. — Jeremiah 2:28 KJV
Where then are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them come if they can save you when you are in trouble! For you, Judah, have as many gods as you have towns. — Jermiah 2:28 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
Today, I’d like to focus on a single straightforward idea. Who or what is our god, according to how we spend our time, what we’re interested in, how we live our lives, how much money we spend, and what we say? Is it the Almighty God, the Lord?
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am ashmamed of how many idols there are in my world that compete for my attention and try to draw it to themselves. Please grant me your blessing and enable me to have a heart that is whole. I don’t want anything in my head or in my heart that may possibly misrepresent or lessen the depth of my commitment to you. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
