Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. — Isaiah 7:14 KJV
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. — Isaiah 7:14 NIV
Reflection
God takes a particular interest in each one of us. To the point where he personally hands us this placard to prove it. As a result of Matthew’s elucidation of the significance of the word Immanuel, we know that the sign in question was Jesus’ arrival on earth to dwell among us in the capacity of God himself. His presence is identical to the presence of God. His very existence is a sign from God. The miraculous occurrence of his conception is both a mystery to God and a declaration of his grace toward us.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, You Refuse to Be the God Who Is Separated and Remote: I am grateful that you made your home among us by way of Jesus. I am grateful to you and appreciate you for going through the suffering that you did. I know that the significant financial burden that this sign places on you; therefore, I ask that you accept my praise in the form of prayers, songs, thoughts, and actions in the name of Jesus. Amen.
