Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. — Hebrews 13:5 KJV
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5 NIV
Reflection
God’s grace has given us many wonderful gifts, and He has promised to never leave us or abandon us, no matter how hard the winds of trouble blow in our lives or who has hurt us or betrayed us. May we become people who don’t care about money, and may we try to be happy no matter what, knowing that God has promised to be with us through all the changes in our lives.
Let us think about these words of comfort from the Lord when we are tempted to be jealous of someone else’s life or to let seeds of discontent grow in our hearts. Let’s think about these words, always be happy in the Lord, and be happy in Him, because He has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I admit that I am sometimes tempted to be unhappy with my life and jealous of other people, which makes me feel unhappy. Forgive me, Lord. May I always remember that You will never leave me or forget me. Remind me today, Lord, that I am one of the blessed people on earth because I am part of Your Bride. Help me keep my priorities straight and not look to things on earth to make me happy, but to Jesus, who started my faith and will finish it. In the name of Christ, Amen.
