Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord. — Ezekiel 38:23 KJV
And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord. — Ezekiel 38:23 NIV
Reflection
At a time when the physical and spiritual well-being of God’s people was in shambles, he promises judgment, judgment not just on them but also on those who persecuted them.
But he also explains the reason for it.
In order for them to recognize him as Yahweh, the God of “his people” as well as the God of all nations, he will demonstrate his greatness and holiness.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if God were to demonstrate his majesty and holiness in this age? I know I would. It would be wonderful if God were recognized and praised for both who he is and what he has accomplished. I pray that day arrives as soon as possible.
My Prayer
Father, as your fallible and mortal child, I am afraid of your brazen disclosure of who you are. In contrast to the dazzling glory that you possess, we mortal mortals are weak and feeble.
On the other hand, I am certain of the connection that I have with you through Jesus, and dear Father, I want to live in such a way that honors you and reveres your name.
Make your pure majesty known to the world so that everyone would recognize that you are the one and only God who is real and alive. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
