Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. — Ephesians 6:10 KJV
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. — Ephesians 6:10 NIV
Reflection
Our prior experiences, the encouragement of others, and our understanding of the truth found in the Scriptures all contribute to our capacity to combat evil and give us some of the strength we need to do so.
The ultimate source of our strength, however, is found in the overwhelming might of God.
Paul writes to the Ephesians in order to remind Christians that it was this power that was responsible for Jesus’ resurrection from the dead.
Because of the power that resides inside us, God is able to accomplish far more than we could ever ask or imagine. Most importantly, as we put on our spiritual armor and commit ourselves to the spiritual disciplines that are required of us, God blesses us with his power and might. We are able to find our strength in the overwhelming might of God.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, in order for me to be able to overcome the assaults and temptations that come from the evil one, please fortify me with your strong power and kind love. In Jesus name pray. Amen.
