Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. — Ecclesiastes 7:10 KJV
Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions. — Ecclesiastes 7:10 NIV
Thought and Reflection
Spending too much time in the rearview mirror can lead to a lot of damage in the front windshield. Our greatest days as Christians are always ahead. Jesus promised to return to God and bring us home — what a better future. Let’s not be distracted by nostalgic cynicism.
While we can be grateful to God for His blessings in the past, let’s not waste our present with pessimism. Let’s take the time to redeem ourselves and believe that the God who raised Jesus from the dead also has our future in his capable hands.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to find purpose in every day I live. Give me hope for the future and a positive outlook on who I will meet. Help me to feel genuine joy in knowing that I can always count on You, no matter what the journey takes me. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
