Reflection on Today's Verse
When someone hurts us or treats us unfairly, it is easy to replay what happened, hold on to anger, or want to respond in the same way.
But God invites us to choose a better response. Overcoming evil with good does not mean ignoring the hurt or pretending that everything is fine. It means refusing to let bitterness take over our hearts. Sometimes goodness looks like staying calm, showing kindness, forgiving someone, setting a healthy boundary, or simply choosing not to return hurt for hurt.
We may not be able to control how others treat us, but we can choose what kind of person we become because of it.
Personal Prayer
Heavenly Father, You know the things that hurt me and the moments when I struggle to respond well.
When I feel angry, disappointed, or treated unfairly, help me not to let those feelings control my heart. Give me wisdom to know when to speak, when to stay quiet, when to forgive, and when to simply place the situation in Your hands.
Help me choose what is good even when it is difficult. Keep bitterness from growing in me, and let my words and actions reflect Your grace.
Thank You for being patient with me as I learn to live this out each day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
