Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. — Acts 3:19 NIV
Thought and Reflection
I’m not certain what we are afraid of when it comes to repentance (turning our lives and hearts towards God)? God does not just accept us, but he’ll also redeem us and re-create us. However, repentance can be too difficult to perform.
We are entangled in previous patterns of destructive and addictive behavior. We believe Satan’s deceptive lies. We make self-deprecating statements to hinder the work of the Holy Spirit within us. Why not face the truth by confessing our sins, and give our lives to God? If we are willing then, we’ll find something refreshing.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I’m not sure why it is that I persistently hold onto certain aspects of my sins. A part of me would like to be free of these obstacles but a portion of me isn’t. I’m in need of Your help in surrendering my entire life to You. I ask You to send healing cleansing, refreshing, and cleansing strength through the Holy Spirit to help me in committing my heart to completely give my life to You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
