A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. — John 13:34-35 KJV
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. — John 13:34-35 NIV
Thought and Reflection
How can you identify the true followers of Christ? How can you identify Christians? Jesus stated that they love each others just like Jesus loved His disciples. In the present, this implies that He’s willing to sacrifice Himself lavishly by dying on the cross. Likewise, it is also His intention to show love and selfless with washing feet.
His work reveals that He is willing to perform almost anything that is the extravagant and practical. Imagine if everyone went through the Gospels and made a commitment to love one another the same manner Jesus loved His followers.
My Prayer
God of Compassion and God of all grace, I am grateful that You have taught me how to love following the example set by Jesus. May my words and actions reflect His love for your people today and tomorrow. And until You can bring everyone back to You. To the Lord Jesus Christ my great example I ask. Amen.
