God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. — Job 37:5 KJV
God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. — Job 37:5 NIV
Reflection
How does God make it possible for us to understand his will? It is very clear that God has provided us with both the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit in order to assist us in comprehending the Scriptures. What about methods that are more ambiguous and less clearly defined? The majority of us have experienced what is known as a “cluster of divine coincidences,” which refers to several events occurring in close proximity to prayer.
For example, a friend calls or writes to us at exactly the right time; we read an article or listen to a sermon that has a comment or two directed at just the area of our concern or confusion; several songs in worship convict us in the area on which we are seeking the Lord’s guidance; or we simply feel a pull on our conscience that helps us.
When God promises that he will give us wisdom if we pray to him without doubting that he will answer our prayers and that if we are sincerely looking for him we will find him. His voice can absolutely rumble in the most beautiful ways.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that you will guide me in determining your will on various significant aspects of my life. I don’t want to base my choices on the limited understanding that comes with being human.
I pray that you will direct me in the way that you want me to walk by guiding me with your Spirit, and that you will use me to bring you honor and praise. I am grateful that you cared enough about the course of my life to clarify the path that I should take. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
