Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. — Deuteronomy 13:4 KJV
It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. — Deuteronomy 13:4 NIV
Reflection
We are constantly being told to follow directions and obey authority figures. Through the ages, only God has proven to be dependable and caring. He is to be feared for his strength. Moses, though, reminds us that reverence is a “living thing” rather than a “church thing.”
We have a responsibility to follow His instructions, worship Him, and rely on Him in all aspects of daily life. Reverence is action to His glory rather than being silent in the crowd.
My Prayer
Help me, Holy and Righteous Father, to extend my worship beyond the walls of the church into my everyday life as I strive to put what I sing, speak, and pray into reality. In Jesus name. Amen.
