Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. — Hebrews 12:2 KJV
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. — Hebrews 12:2 NIV
Thought and Reflection
Who’s your hero? I’m not looking for the Sunday school class’s answer however, it’s the person that you are most passionate about. It’s hard to “fix our eyes on Jesus” because He’s not present in our world to look at Him as other heroes.
He was the most renowned adventurer and pioneer. He had to endure the terrible punishment and humiliation of the cross, absolving us of our sin. He did this so that we could experience an hero who death and sin couldn’t ruin, damage or discolor. He did it to allow us to be sure that if we choose to follow his path his way, the path he set was not just for Him, but also for us too.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me whenever I seek out what isn’t true and allow my attention to shift from Jesus as my greatest hero. I’d like to be a servant to Him and honor His name and let His story come to life in me in order that others can be able to feel the peace of being able to count Jesus in their life as Lord.
I cannot express my gratitude in words towards my Lord for the sacrifice He made, and the price that He paid for my sins. They cannot convey my joy at His historic victory that guarantees that I will one day remain with You forever. In Jesus mighty name. Amen.
