For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. — Jeremiah 31:25 KJV
I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint. — Jeremiah 31:25 NIV
Thought and Reflection
God repeated His warnings to His people that He would punish them for their stubborn and hardened hearts in the depressing, overwhelming prophecies of Jeremiah. Despite these stern warnings, God manages to slip in passages of hope and grace in the middle. Is there anything more comforting than God’s promise that He will “refresh the weary” and “satisfy the faint?”
That was Israel’s only hope for seventy-years — God’s promise. God kept His promise when it was time. He will continue to do the same for us today, I believe.
My Prayer
Dear Lord, refresh my spirit and my body. Thank You for the abundant blessings that You have given me. Please help me to find joy in them. All glory, honor and strength belongs to You. I joyfully submit to faith and wait for the rest and satisfaction that You promise. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
