Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. — 2 Corinthians 7:1 KJV
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. — 2 Corinthians 7:1 NIV
Thought and Reflection
In a world that is packed with distractions and temptations to be pure isn’t easy. It is even more difficult calling to pureness frequently is ignored and forgotten. “Cheap grace” is substituted as a call for passionate living.
While we don’t wish to compromise with the idea of a work-based righteousness, we must be aware that sins caused by laziness or a lack of commitment, or simple rebellion can contaminate people who claim that they are Christians and sabotaging our credibility in the eyes of the world.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, cleanse my heart as well as my body, my life and my influence, O God. My words and thoughts be blameless before You. I wish to be holy as You are and respect You in the way that only You deserve honor. In Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
