Honour widows that are widows indeed. — 1 Timothy 5:3 KJV
Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. — 1 Timothy 5:3 NIV
Thought and Reflection
The need to show compassion and love to those weak and unloved is rooted in the very heart of God and is encouraged through Old Testament Law.
One of the initial internal problems that the early church quickly and positively addressed was prejudice and neglect for the Greek widows who spoke Greek in Jerusalem.
It was crucial to God as well as to them! Paul also reminds us to take the same care of widows in the present.
My Prayer
Lord forgive me because I can get caught up in my own thoughts and challenges that I forget to take a look around and see the members of my church family who are in need of my assistance less those that aren’t Christians.
Bring me into your presence so that I can better be able to hear, perceive and be able to respond appropriately to demands. Thank You for being concerned to all people and thank You for allowing me to be one of Your instruments of concern to help people who are in need. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
