For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. — 1 Timothy 4:10 KJV
That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe. — 1 Timothy 4:10 NIV
Reflection on Verse for Today
Even if the cost of man’s sin has been fully paid, not everyone will benefit from God’s great, undeserved generosity for sin forgiveness. Everyone has the capacity to be saved, but those who reject God’s free offer of grace by placing their complete and total confidence in Christ alone will one day be eternally cut off from Him.
Some people will experience this ultimate separation from their heavenly Creator, but it is not because of sin because the price for all sin has already been paid. Christ’s death on the Cross satisfied God completely, making Him the perfect propitiation for all people. Not because of their sins, but because they rejected the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, people are eternally cut off from the Father: “For He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Jesus is the Savior of all men, especially those who believe, according to Paul. But it’s disheartening to realize that not everyone would accept His gift of free salvation, even though His dying had the power to redeem everyone. All men have the potential to be saved by Christ, but only those who sincerely put their trust in Him alone—by grace through faith—are actually saved.
Since “whoever believes in Christ will not perish but have everlasting life,” let us make every effort to proclaim the Word to a lost and dying world and share the magnificent gospel of grace with everyone we come in contact with.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that I am redeemed by grace through faith in Christ as the atoning sacrifice for my sins. I’m grateful that You loved the world so much that You gave Jesus to atone for the sins of the entire human race. I ask that many people would place their faith in Christ today and that You would provide me with opportunity to share the gospel with everyone I come into contact with. I ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.
